iv Ski

Isocentric skis are introducing a new revolutionary way of making turns where the centre of the turns is not static, but dynamic, continuously readjusted centre, i.e. an isocentre. The centre of the turn is not defined with the sidecut radius, as is the case with the classical carving skis, but is projected based on the forces applied to the ski, the skier’s center of gravity and the slope of the terrain.

Because the centre of the turn is continuously repositioning itself and is not only a fixed point around which skier rotates as a pendulum forces on the skier are smaller and more uniformly distributed throughout the entire turn – they do not increase sinusoidal from the beginning of the turn to its inflection point, but have a flatter distribution profile. This reduces the effect of pulsating loading – which induces a mechanical, automated body response – and allows for a more spontaneous, natural response. At the same time the control of skis is drastically increased.

Performance vs. safety

iv Ski

High-performance skies for a new experience of skiing.

Challenge to improve ski performance without increasing its hazardousness and/or create harmful effects is one of the greatest ones continuously facing ski producers worldwide. Although constant attempts and changes emerge, no concept has yet been found to successfully embrace these two seemingly mutually excluding properties – usually a compromise is made between the performance and the safety: higher performance products are usually less safe/healthy, while safer/healthier products provide less performance.
Here is where Meltum isocentric skis are different. Not only are they technically superior – they enable achievement of higher velocities, smoother turning and improved maneuverability; they are also significantly less burdening for the skiers body and thus healthier and safer as any other high-performance skis currently available on the market.

Pioneering ski building spirit – development from scratch.

The established ski producers rarely step out of the box and preferably imply corrections to the existing solutions which tremendously narrows their working field and at the end of the day provides only minor aesthetical corrections that make little if any change and don’t really tackle the problem in its roots. One such attempt is the increase of the sidecut radii in order to decrease the extreme accelerations / forces smaller sidecut radii have induced on the skier – which has been implemented in the recent years both in recreational and competitive skiing.

Meltum skis on the other hand, were designed completely from scratch – by throwing away all the existing solutions and focusing solely on the achievement of the highest performance at the most favourable body conditions; without imposing any predefined limitations. This way an extremely broad spectrum of new concepts and ideas needed to be evaluated and analysed in an iterative process that slowly converged towards a finite single best solution.

The result of this backwards-process are completely different skis that possess superior performance properties and at the same time distribute significantly lower forces to the skier’s body than any other existing solution.

Revolutionary switch in skiing: healthy and safe skiing is combined with professional results.

In the last decades, especially in professional skiing, the harmful health effects of regular skiing became almost inevitable and athletes were forced to sacrifice their well-being for the achievement of top results – which is in complete disagreement with the spirit and the mission of this beautiful sport. This negative trend is being interrupted by Meltum isocentric skis which redefine the concept of skiing by allowing a disburdened and free approach to sports – body movement is accustomed to natural abilities and progress is self-induced through playfulness – which enables a healthier and also more efficient physical and psychological development.

Psychological effects of skiing is improved as the pleasure of skiing drastically increases.

Today many recreational skiers don’t attend skiing regularly as it is to exhausting, and often after skiing pains remain especially in the vulnerable parts of the body such as previously injured joints or strained muscles/ligaments. Meltum isocentric skis have shown to provide therapeutic effects by releasing pain from chronically injured parts of the body (due to the overall relaxation of the body and the natural distribution of forces during skiing). After skiing pleasant, warm energy is present in the muscles as if they were being massaged – a similar effect as that swimming has on disburdening of the spine. Not only do Meltum isocentric skis allow active everyday ski life, it is even recommended to ski regularly due to the therapeutic reasons. Relaxation of the body, physical fitness and overall well-being contributes significantly to psychological health – enjoyable, safe and healthy outdoor experiences are a source of physical distress which is extremely important in the active life of contemporary man. This way, the overall quality of life is higher, resulting in better health and higher stability.

Prima / secunda

iv Ski

Meltum skis are adapted for the left and the right side of the body. “Prima” (+) is the leading leg ski and “secunda” (-) the following leg ski. The result is symmetrical response of the left and the right ski regardless of the different strengths of the leading and the following leg.

People are left-handed or right-handed. We have two halves of the body, which are different in strength, stability and explosiveness. Meltum ski considers this basic imbalance of forces, which forces the skier into unnatural movement and is a source of tensions in the body. With an innovative ski design, the skies equalize forces of the left and the right leg and thus nullify the effect of a weaker and a stronger leg. In this way they create a new, until now unknown balance of skiing. Skier can naturally respond to gliding without artificial force induction.

Tradition of ski building in Slovenia

iv Ski

In Slovenia skiing and ski building has a very long and at the same time completely unique tradition. This tradition is rooted in the region Bloke, a plateau region with proverbially the largest amounts of snow and snow days. In this region skiing downhill the snowy slopes was practiced long before it was widely recognized as a recreational activity and when, throughout Europe and other parts of the world, skis were used merely as means of transport and hunting. The inhabitants of the Bloke region are the first people in history who were observed of making turns on the snowy slopes. In 1689, Johann Weikhard von Valvasor described these “pioneers of the turns” in the book The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola, where he wrote: “No hill is too steep to prevent them from sliding down even if it is so densely packed with trees; because they twist down in turns as a snake when obstacles are in their way.”

Being of an infinite value

iv No203

Man is a being of an infinite value. If he would respect the gifts of life with all his awareness, he would – in his unawareness – represent the greatest treasure of nature. And when two would allow to be a pair to each other, the natural rule of subconscious flow would start running between them – not in their captivity, but in complete freedom and beauty of their nature.

Natural flow of life runs within us always when we allow it and don’t dictate reality by our own will. But as soon as we wish to limit life into our own riverbed, we interrupt the natural flow of life with our overtaken time and step in pair with ourselves. This is because life is not ours, but we are of life. We cannot name life with our name, only life can name us, if we allow it to.

Society in which we live today is like a cheap sale where money is worthier than every soul. In it we are constantly overtaking time and thus interrupting the natural flow of life. Always when an artificial flow conquers a society and starts to rule in it, all creativity and development dry up. In this time no one is reaping nor sowing, everyone is just trying to be a faster predator than the other. This way life has lost all of its real value. And it would be enough only to give up our awareness in the name of life.

If your soul is humble and devoted, you are treasuring life with infinite value, because you are forming pair with what is real. If in your awareness you are forming a pair with obstinacy, obstinacy conquers your subconsciousness and overtakes you against your will and interrupts all the spontaneities of life.

Life runs through the unawareness of the humble, not through the awareness of the smart. Pairs are formed subconsciously. No one can include or exclude someone into or out of a pair. Only subconsciousness can do it, in accordance with what you belong to. The time in which you could choose your own pairs and dreamed your affiliations has passed. Time of subconsciousness was born in the distant future, in the near future it has opened the doors of pre- and post-time and thus unveiled and delineated dreams from reality. Now the subconscious flow runs synchronously with the present, therefore man’s inner captivity on one side and freedom on the other are growing ever stronger.

Subtle forms of time

iv No203

Those who strive to leave all the forms of his identity, are stopping time within themselves, and within them eyes of time are opening in which feedback is awakening…

God’s will cannot implement itself on its own. It needs its carrier. It needs you. And until it finds a sufficiently merciful soul, it remains without its form.

Exactly the same feeling is speaking to everyone, everyone is hearing the same voice, the voice of life – the only difference is that someone respects it, and someone ignores it not allowing it within himself. You alone are the content and the form of life, but as long as you defend the borders of your identity, you are only dying in it; and the contents of life are only sleeping inside of you as long as you are protecting them as your own.

The forms of time or the feedback-forms bring peace to you, while the forms of space or the origin-forms confirm your spatial or physical identity. The more man is holding on to his own time in space, the less forms of time he can allow. Thus in every step of the overtaken time, he is hurrying in order to preserve his space. However, the more he is hurrying, the more he is being carried away in time and into a more difficult psychological and physical distress he is falling. He is like a wounded animal caught in a trap. Because man is alone is a trap to himself and only alone can he save himself out of it.

Every idea is a living fluid of life. An idea is never in a hurry, because it is neither too slow nor too fast. It cannot be in an overtaken nor in a delayed time, since it doesn´t have its own time, but is waiting for you – the other side, to awaken in you and obtain its time-form in space.

One must be able to remain silent on his own account in order to allow life to start speaking within him. Only in him, whose heart is open, an idea can find its home. In him, who opens his heart, an idea can – by the rule of feedback – freely arise and mature into a time-form. On the other hand, the one who is outrunning time and is trying to own ideas as means of his spatial or physical identity is hard and brutal to everything subtle. As everything within him serves only for his identification, nothing can be formed within him – everything inside of him is dead, as he gives no space to anything. While he is sleeping – blinded by his own dreams – life sweeps away, because he has closed the eyes and the doors to everything real.
